Hemodialysis is a treatment that helps remove waste products and excess fluid from the blood when the kidneys are unable to perform these functions adequately.

Aastha provides specialized dialysis care supported by nephrology consultation, laboratory services, diagnostic facilities and critical-care support. Peritoneal dialysis is available for appropriately selected patients.

Hemodialysis

During hemodialysis, blood is circulated through a dialysis machine and a special filter called a dialyzer. Waste products and excess fluid are removed before the filtered blood is returned to the body. Patients are monitored during treatment, with attention to blood pressure, fluid removal and other clinical parameters.

Peritoneal dialysis

A special dialysis solution is introduced into the abdominal cavity through a catheter. It remains there for a prescribed period so that waste products and excess fluid move from the blood into the solution, and is then drained and replaced with fresh solution.

Dialysis access

A suitable vascular access is necessary for hemodialysis. Depending on the patient’s circumstances it may be an AV fistula, or a tunneled or non-tunneled dialysis catheter. Aastha also provides dialysis-access-related services.
